The day is finally here to share one of my favorite projects to date! This nostalgic Brand and Website Design for Alora Rachelle is timeless, cinematic, soulful, and intentional.

Alora is a Detroit-based wedding and lifestyle photographer and educator. She serves couples who are madly in love and photographers with an ambitious drive. Alora is truly one-of-a-kind and so is her work! It has been such an incredible honor to work with her on her brand and website design!

Well, without further adieu, let’s get into it!

From the start of this project, I knew this would be one for the books! To say I went above and beyond would be a severe understatement. With tons of deliverables, social media templates, logo marks, and stunning website strategy and design; I might humblebrag on this one for a bit (if you don’t mind, of course!).

Brand Strategy

Every successful brand design begins with an intentional and thought-out strategy. During the strategy process, we first begin with an in-depth brand discovery questionnaire. This is where you take your time to be as detailed as humanly possible. Answer thought-provoking questions about your business including your audience, ideal client, and big-time goals. Additionally, I inquire about your visual preferences including color and typography.

Once this has been completed, I begin creating your brand discovery presentation. Included in this document are your brand vision, your audience, your tone, and visual inspiration. Next, I will present and request feedback. If something feels off, you will have the opportunity to request refinements. When this has been approved, I move onto the logo design process.

Cohesiveness is a major theme that runs throughout this project. What was formerly lacking in Alora’s brand was consistency. From start to finish, this design is undoubtedly on brand in terms of both voice and design.

Logo Design

During the logo design process, I take everything we have worked toward into consideration. Your brand discovery questionnaire, our consultation calls, everything matters to me. I am an avid note taker and try to capture every thought as the process moves along. This helps me remember and incorporate

One of the main goals of this project was to design something timeless and long-lasting. Design trends can become very oversaturated. So, throughout the process, I stay aware of things that are currently trending and phasing out. This allows me to design a brand that will grow with your business. Especially as Alora is ahead of the industry in so many ways, I knew I needed to create something that was incredibly extraordinary.

The sharp angles that run throughout this custom-created typeface convey modern, luxurious feelings we want clients and customers to have when interacting with her brand. Additionally, this style mirrors the modern timelessness of her work. The custom curved shape of the ‘R’ offers a comforting approachability that exemplifies her laid-back, artistic clients and customers. Including movement in your logo such as this, provides comfortability while remaining luxurious.

Website Design

Alora’s website design was a true labor of love but wasn’t all me. I always urge clients to invest in custom copywriting and professional branding photography for truly strategic website design. Olivia Carson provided converting copy and Christina Harrison captured incredibly stunning film imagery. Without their amazing talent, this website would not have near as much impact.

Eye-catching transitions, nostalgic elevated font selection, and warm inviting color palette all compliment Alora’s beautiful documentary-style photography. Her previous site was not easy to navigate. So, a main priority was simple and engaging navigation. It’s hard enough, sometimes, to get people to find your website. You don’t want them leaving as soon as they get there because they can’t find their way around.

I created interest and a ‘newspaper’ feel with overlapping images and a hierarchy of text styles. Oval shapes and bold frames accent Alora’s breathtaking imagery. Hover effects bring a fun, unique touch. This website creates a true experience for her clients, both couples and photographers.

This website truly needs to be experienced to get the full effect. Please, do yourself a favor and check out her website in full!
