Inspired by the ocean, this brand design for underwater maternity photographer Kasey Miranda is uniquely stunning. Kasey Miranda is an incredibly talented maternity portrait photographer based in Delaware. Not only is she a gifted photographer, but she has a few major things that truly sets her apart in her industry.

For one, she is a registered nurse that specializes in obstetrics. As primarily a maternity photographer, this helps understand her clients to a much deeper degree. She has a deep knowledge of different conditions that occur during pregnancy and has a full understanding of limitations during pregnancy. Her experience in this field distinguishes her in the industry. Additionally, she has a true love for the water and the ocean in particular. So much so, that she will be offering underwater portraiture. I mean is that not the coolest?

Because this was a brand design intensive, I designed this entire brand in one day. In order to make this process a success, I complete prep work to get us ready for the design day. Included in the prep work is an extensive discovery questionnaire, market research, mood board creation, and color palette curation. I present the client with two different directions, both of which in line with their business and ideal clients.

Kasey’s color palette is serene and consists of mostly soft blues and greens. This calming color palette speaks to her underwater sessions and love for the ocean. A more muted color palette adds a level of sophistication to her service offerings.

The main logo is a completely custom stylized serif typeface. Connections between letterforms represent the mother-child relationship as well as the movement of water. This is paired with a simple secondary san serif logo design. Additional linework inspired by the movement of water adds texture and meaning to the brand.
