Built in Showit, this custom website for restaurant La Chiquiada is lively, fun, and full of personality! La Chiquiada is a Mexi-Cali Café inspired by Northern California. This restaurant is a beautiful blend of fresh authentic Mexican fare, with a southern-twist. Additionally to designing her website, I also played the role of creative director on this project. When Catherine contacted me about her incredible vision for her restaurant, I knew we had to hit it out of the park. A single logo and illustration icon just won’t cut it.
Creative Direction Rationale
Catherine presented a logo design including one illustration. She needs more than a logo for an entirely successful business to grow and develop. I assisted in the creative direction of additional custom illustrations by the professional artist, Katherine Boggs who drew the initial illustration. Including additional illustrations provided a more robust, comprehensive brand.
Artist Collaboration for custom illustrations
These illustrations add personality and are very memorable and unique, adding depth to the website and brand. I curated a list of illustrations for the artist to complete that were within the brand direction I provided to the client
Color Palette & Typography
The color palette combines your existing brand colors with additional softer additions. It’s fun and bold, but also engaging. Combining bright, fun colors bring energy and create a feeling of excitement. Including a few muted tones allows us to be versatile with the design. The typography combination is fun, unique, and inviting. It conveys a sassy approachability that compliments your menu and engages customers

Custom Photoshoot
The food is the soul of La Chiquiada, so it is important to have photography of the menu items on the website. Catherine curated the entire menu for the restaurant and planned a photoshoot to capture these delicious meals. We selected a venue nearby the restaurant that has a similar vibe for the shoot. On a Tuesday afternoon, I whipped out my college camera and headed into Atlanta.
Stock Image Sourcing
Because the restaurant is still in the building phase, there was not a great way to shoot the space just yet. So along with the food photos, I curated a library of on-brand stock imagery. Bright colorful images of cocktails and yummy eats give visitors of the website a sense of what dining at La Chiquiada will truly be like.
