I am so thrilled to share my most recent project, Chelsey Martin Houston photographer branding design. This design-intensive went so smoothly. By the end of one day, I provided Chelsey with a full brand including a main logo with 3 alternates, custom illustration, monogram, supporting typography, custom pricing guide, and social media templates.

The strategy behind the design

Behind every good brand is a thoughtful, intentional strategy. With design intensives, I send an in-depth questionnaire that takes a deep dive into you and your business. From there, I do some of my own market research. I create two different concepts for the direction of the brand. Each concept includes overall visual inspiration, color palette, and typography direction for the main logo. A week prior to the design day, we hop on a video call and I present the concepts.

Chelsey’s goal is to capture moments for moms in their motherhood journey. It is such a quick phase of life, her goal is to help mothers feel seen and to capture the love they work so hard to create within their families.

Integrating a classic script typeface with a clean serif offers a classic, timeless feel. Script typefaces resemble handwriting or calligraphy and evoke a charming feeling. The letterforms connect to one another as cursive would. When using a script in brand design, it is important to consider a more timeless style rather than on-trend.

Deliverables

With design intensives, deliverables aren’t always guaranteed. However, the prep work and strategy call help the design day run efficiently. For Chelsey Martin’s design intensive, we not only completed a full brand suite in one day. But, I also designed a customizable pricing guide template, social media templates, and highlight covers all compatible with Canva.
